Claudia J. Lawlor

May 30, 2017

Claudia J. Lawlor, 66, of Watertown passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Friday, June 2, at 4PM with Rev. Jonas Tandayu, pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, presiding. There will be no calling hours.

Claudia was born in Watertown on September 18, 1950, daughter of Claude J. and Charlene F. Perrin Burns. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and the college in Morrisville where she received her associates degree in Dietetics.

On September 19, 1975 she married James M. Lawlor at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Benoit Dostie officiating.

She worked for many years at Mercy Hospital as a Diet Technician and retired from Samaritan Summit Village. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, music, and reading. You would be hard pressed to beat her at Scrabble and she would play any board game, including Monopoly with Jim. Claudia was an avid Yankees fan.

Along with her husband, James, Claudia is survived by her mother, Charlene, Watertown; two sons and their wives, Jamie and Christine Lawlor, and their son, Logan, of Raleigh, NC and Kevin and Carrie Lawlor, and their two children, Seamas and Killian; four siblings, Patricia and Michael DeTraglia, Watertown, Shelia Burns, TX, Richard Burns, FL, and Colleen Burns, Virginia Beach, VA; two aunts, Joan Deline and Irene Serry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her father, Claude, died February 9, 1985.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions in Claudia's name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., or WPBS-DT, 1056 Arsenal St., both in Watertown, NY 13601, or the National Wildlife Federation, PO Box 1583, Merrifield, VA 22116. Online condolences to her family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com.

I was blessed to have worked with Claudia for many years at Mercy. Such a sweet, caring person who went out of her way to care for her patients. She will be sadly missed. So very sorry for your loss.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of your Mother's passing, Kevin. My heart is hurting for you today. No matter the years in between the last time we've seen each other. Always a good friend. Thinking so much about you and of your family. Love, Katey.

I was absolutely heartbroken reading of Claudia's passing. I hadn't seen her since the Mercy Party and had no idea she was sick. I was just thinking of calling her to get together with some old Mercy friends for lunch. Claudia was a wonderful woman, friend, and co-worker. My heart is with you Jim and boys.
