John J. Bazinet

John J. Bazinet, 74, formerly of Clayton, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, St. Johnsville.

A funeral mass at St. Mary's Church will take place in the spring at a time and date to be announced. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

John was born in Clayton on April 20, 1943, son of Amos W. and Ida L. Taylor Bazinet. He was a 1961 graduate of Clayton Central School and received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Marriages to Katherine Bachman and Mary Vlasis ended in divorce. For 20 years he was an engineer at Carrier Corp., Syracuse.

He is survived by his son, Robert Bazinet, and his daughter and her husband, Yvette and Matthew Pearson, all of GA; three grandchildren; brother and his wife, William A. and Suzanne Bazinet, CO; sister and her husband, Golda L. and Peter Mellon, Clayton; stepsister, Ann Marie Layman, Clayton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, Amos Bazinet and Ida Bazinet Marshall, and his stepfather, Lorenzo "Wren" Marshall, predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057. Online condolences to his family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
