paul-j-michaelson-dds Paul J. Michaelson, DDS, formerly of Watertown passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at his home in Rochester. The couple moved to Rochester in October 2020.

Paul was born in Palmer, AK August 14, 1951, son of the late Neil and Alice Jean Sweetman Michaelson. He graduated from McClintock High School, Tempe, AZ and attended Arizona State University. He graduated from University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1974. On August 12, 1974 he married Katherine Burkhardt in Indianapolis, IN with Rev. Odilo Burkhardt officiating.

Paul was a Prosthodontist in Watertown for 44 years, retiring in 2018. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He had been a member of Sun City Center (FL) Emergency Squad. Paul was a volunteer Dental Residency Instructor at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, a Dental Consultant for North Country Family Health Center, Watertown, a past president of both Jefferson-Lewis Dental Society and 5th District Dental Society, and a fellow of The American College of Prosthodontists. Paul enjoyed wood carving, bicycling, cross country skiing, and traveling.

Along with his wife, Katherine, he is survived by his three children, Andrew and wife Bridget, Colorado Springs, CO, Steven, Arlington, VA, and Emily Andrea and husband Todd, Rochester; three grandchildren; 7 siblings, Gary, Ray, and Julie, all of Palmer, AK, Lee, William, and Chris, all of Anchorage, AK, and Jeff, HI; 8 nieces, 7 nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Thursday, March 17, from 4 - 7 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church at 10 AM on Friday, March 18. Sincerest condolences to the entire Michaelson family. I didn't know Dr. M. Very well but he seemed a kind soul. What a lovely man. RIP Dr. michaelson

To the Michaelson family. I am so sad and sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. M. I was so shocked to read of his passing. I worked for him for 5 years as his receptionist. He was the nicest and kindest employer. I will always remember him for his caring for his patients. He took such pride in being a prosthodontist and giving people back their smile. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Paul Michaelson was a great mentor to myself and many other residents over the years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was a skilled practitioner and provided great clinical guidance. I send my condolences to his family and hope they find peace with the passage of time.

My condolences to the Michelson family. I was really shocked to see his obituary as he was always in such great shape and calm in his demeanor. We were colleagues for many years and worked briefly together at St Joseph's Dental Clinic. His dental diagnostic skills and eye for detail were exceptional. I was happy to see that he got to retire but didn't expect it to be so short. May he rest in peace.

Paul was quiet when he first started with the Sun City Center Emergency squad. I worked with him as he was learning the tasks needed for recording all information gathered during an emergency call. His gentle smile always helped to put a client at ease. It was a shock to hear he had to leave the team due to his own health issues. I'm sorry for your loss. Sending prayers of comfort to his family and friends.

Such a shock to see you are gone Paul... the last time we talked to you, you were standing in the driveway loading the car up ready to go and looking forward to the move. I remember accusing you of moving there because Tim was there.. LOL

So very sorry for your loss. I worked with Paul for a year with the Sun City Ambulance Volunteers. He was a skilled medic, well liked by our patients, and calm and collected during our occasionally chaotic calls. We talked about family quite often. He was very happy to have found a place in Rochester, so that he and his wife could be near their children. Rest In Peace, my friend. I will miss you.

Although Paul was with the Sun City Center Emergency Squad for a short period of time, we knew him to be a

Patrick and I were so sad to hear of Paul's illness and then his death. What a wonderful, kind man with a great sense of humor as well. I will always remember him as a soft-spoken man, kind to all, and dedicated to the Church.
