Lance W. Connell

Lance W. Connell, 49, of Adams Center passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, August 23, 2018, in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center. He had been ill with a heart condition.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 2, at 3PM in Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Melissa McCarthy, Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, presiding. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Lance was born in Watertown on March 26, 1969, son of Walter C. and Shirley M. Baker Connell. He was a 1986 graduate of S. Jefferson High School and from BOCES in the diesel mechanic shop. He worked as a diesel mechanic for various companies, including Rodman Landfill and for Ft. Drum. Lance enjoyed his vegetable gardening, repairing cars, and woodworking.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley M. Connell, Adams Center, two aunts, a niece and a nephew, 3 great nieces, and cousins. His father, Walter, died May 25, 1996 and his brother, Hance W., died June 16, 1986.

In lieu of flowers, his family wishes donations in his name to the Memorial Fund at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, c/o Marianne Malatino, 16072 County Rt. 62, Watertown, NY 13601. Online condolences to Lance's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.

I wish the best for Lance's family. He was my sister and brothers uncle,I don't know the pain they are going through,but I do know it isn't easy. And to Grandma Shirley I am sorry for the loss of Lance,I wish I had the chance to get to know him.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your son. And my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Lance was a good friend. I will miss him. He was a highlight of my day whenever I had seen him.
