Richard Hammond Obituary

   Richard T. Hammond, 84, formerly of Adams Center passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Samaritan Summit Village.
   Richard was born July 16, 1941 in Watertown, son of Harold J. and Catherine M. (Connolly) Hammond and he was a graduate of Watertown High School. On May 19, 1962 he married Dorothy L. Kellogg at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Benoit C. Dostie, MSC officiating. Dorothy died February 15, 2020.
   Richard was a member of the NYS Troopers, Troop D for 20 years until 1983. He then worked for Niagara Mohawk as a foreman in the gas department for 20 years, retiring in 2003. He was a former communicant of St. Cecilia's Church, Adams and a member of the NYS Retired Troopers Association. He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling, and music. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. But above all he loved his family and all the crazy that came with it.
    Richard is survived by his six children, Dina L. (Kevin) Kelly, Watertown and their children, Adam (Lydia), Giana, Logan, McKenna, and Mia and Richard's great granddaughter Sophia, Todd M. Hammond, Watertown, Scott D. (Carolyn) Hammond, Grand Junction, CO and their children, Anthony and Brody, Lisa E. (Shannon) Owen, Fairport and their children, Aidan and Meghan, Heather L. (Ronald) McNitt, Adams and their children, Cullen and Connor, and Jared R. (Dana) Hammond, Clay and their children, Lauren and Jillian; five siblings, John D. "Jack" (Sharon) Hammond, Syracuse and FL, Kathleen A. (Michael) Maurer, Watertown, Barbara E. Corey, Adams, Linda S. (Terry) Sullivan, Oakville, Ontario, and Debra J. (Michael) Swiecki, Adams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother Gary Michael Hammond.
  The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Summit Village for their care and devotion to their parents.
  A calling hour will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown Saturday, February 14, from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Online condolences to Richard's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Samaritan Summit Village Activities Fund, 22691 Campus Dr., Watertown, NY 13601.
